I felt compelled to acknowledge volunteers for their incredible amount of time, effort, and dedication to the Jarvis Light Up Night on December 14, 2024.
Both my son and I felt honoured and privileged we could be part of a large area sponsorship group supporting this truly worthwhile, world-class event.

Imagine a little town of Jarvis becoming Ontario’s premier “Magical Christmas Kingdom” venue, setting a lofty benchmark for all communities across Ontario to aspire to – simply amazing.
This event was completely FREE to the public and included superb entertainment from the headlining fireworks to the scary Grinch House, live band, energy-filled DJ, giveaway items, midway, and treats – that is extremely rare.
Both young and old alike were speechless and their facial expressions said it all; it was possibly the most gratifying event one could be involved with.
I personally want to give a huge shoutout to all the area businesses that sponsored this special event. More importantly, full kudos to the hundreds of anonymous volunteers and especially Santa’s “Head Elves” – Ernie, Howie, and Lisa – who all donated endless amount of time and energy for this event to come to fruition.
We are so fortunate to have all these people in our community, having the vision and dedication to initiate and complete these events. Without them an event such as this could not be possible and would never occur.
This type of event strengthens a community in so many aspects, maintaining and sharing its friendly, rural culture, with all of the out of community visitors.
It sure makes me proud to be a Haldimand County resident – it’s a great county to call home.
Please! Next time you see a volunteer of any community event, say “thank you” – they will certainly appreciate it and they absolutely deserve it.
Respectfully,
Peter Hogeterp, Cayuga
