I wasn’t sure what to expect from a play entitled ‘A Woman’s Love List’; perhaps a sappy, romantic drama. This play couldn’t be further from that idea! Buckle your seatbelt for a fast-paced comedic adventure.
Lighthouse Theatre’s newest play explores the friendship between Carly and Megan, who conjure up a list for the perfect man.
The only problem is once this man, Blaze, materializes, they’re not quite sure if perfection is all it’s cracked up to be. What ensues is a laugh-a-minute merry-go-round of zany antics that are sure to make even the most stoic attendee slap their knee.
The man in question seems to change at the whim of the women, always a new character trait coming to fruition as they make changes to the list.
This rollicking play does not need a change of scenes and takes place in one apartment. The two acts bring the story full circle as the women discover their own shortcomings as they search out perfection in a mate. Always a favourite, Norm Foster’s writing brings it all together in a magical conclusion.
While a small cast, Stephanie Pitsiladis (Megan), Nicole Wilson (Carly), and Cole Munden (Blaze) fill the stage well together.
The story explores how we view our desires and wishes, how we value friendships, and how we change our mind to suit our current situation. Searching for the imperfect perfection becomes the rule of the day.
‘A Woman’s Love List’ is currently playing at Lighthouse Festival Theatre in Port Dover until September 12 in Port Dover, and from September 16 to 27 at the Port Colborne location.
