HAGERSVILLE—Hagersville Lions Club members John and Joyce Harvey paid a visit to Hagersville Elementary School on May 16, 2023 as a part of Lions Project Pride, a program started over 30 years ago where Lions showcase both their pride in being Canadian, and in being a Lions Club member. The Harveys presented students at the school with 5×10-inch Canadian flags and a certificate, “The flag presentation represents the diversity of our country and the pride we have in being Canadian,” said the Harveys. “Requesting permission to visit schools is a rewarding experience for both Lions and students. Over 40,000 flags are distributed every year across Canada.”

In total, the Harvey’s visited three classrooms, where they spoke at length with students about Canada, where they were born, where they have lived, “They are a chatty bunch… They learned more about our special, diverse nation and saw where they live on a world map. It was enjoyable for us as usual.”
The Harveys have another Project Pride visit planned, visiting grade 1 students at St. Mary’s on June 26.
