HAGERSVILLE—Local athletes Abby Martin and Caitlyn Thompson were recently recognized by Athletics Ontario as All-Ontarians for having placed in the top three positions at Ontario Track and Field Championships in 2021.
Abby was a champion over both 800m and 1200m in the Under-14 category, as well as winning bronze in the long jump and tetrathlon (80m hurdles, shot put, high jump, 200m) at the Ontario Combined Events Championships. In addition, her triple jump, which is not contested at the Ontario Championship level, ranked her number one in Canada for her age.
Caitlyn was Ontario Champion in the Under-16 girl’s pentathlon (80m hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 800m) at the Combined Events Championships, as well as silver medalist in triple jump and bronze medalist in the 80m hurdles.
