HALDIMAND—With the federal election in the rear view mirror, the agricultural community in Haldimand is now looking for ways that newly elected MP Leslyn Lewis can help local farmers.
“There’s a huge agenda for agriculture. I’m hoping somebody will pick and develop a specific set of strategies for agricultural labour issues,” said local OFA representative and beef farmer Will Stoneman, who runs a 140-head beef operation with his family in Hagersville and Caledonia. “Finding people willing to work in agriculture is becoming more difficult in the face of attractive, high-paying alternatives.”
