Local school absenteeism holding steady in the 10-20% range

HALDIMAND—With students having returned to classrooms, local schools have largely shown similar trends as others across the province, with student and staff absences hovering between 10-20% on average.

Dave Smouter, Manager of Communication and Community Relations for Grand Erie District School Board (GEDSB), said, “I have spoken with several principals over the past days who commented how well the return to in-person learning was going for everyone in the school. Generally, everyone’s preference is in-person learning, and it’s been very positive so far.”
