Mayor Hewitt reflects on his COVID experience

HALDIMAND—On the morning of May 11, 2021, Haldimand County Mayor Ken Hewitt and Norfolk County Mayor Kristal Chopp received their first doses of COVID-19 vaccine at the Cayuga Memorial Arena clinic.

Hewitt recently dealt with a bout of COVID, an experience he shared along with his girlfriend Sandra, son Josh, and his son’s girlfriend as well.

“It was a rough 10 days. In a way, from my perspective, it was kind of good to experience this, just to appreciate it. We certainly appreciated it, that’s for sure. We don’t want it back,” said Hewitt, who is unsure of how or where he contracted the virus. “Sandra started not feeling well and we don’t know if it was just being out locally at the grocery store, or where…. It’s so hard to tell.”
