CALEDONIA—About 175 prospective homeowners who invested in the McKenzie Meadows development are now having to decide on a new future following an announcement recently stating they would be refunded their deposits. Developer Foxgate Developments, a partnership between Ballantry Homes and Losani Homes, said it would be returning the deposits as the one-year anniversary approached of self-described land defenders taking control of the lands and remaining on site despite court orders to vacate.

“I wasn’t surprised at all. This was clearly the next step for the developers; it was just a matter of time,” said Mark McSporran, one of the homebuyers impacted by the cancellation. “Now that this decision is made, homebuyers can now move forward with planning their future and the next steps toward making those accountable for this situation.”
