CALEDONIA—Last week, McKinnon Park Secondary School’s football team, the Blue Devils, officially left the Haldimand-Norfolk football league after 25 very successful years. The team has now joined the Hamilton Football League.
Originally, the Haldimand-Norfolk Football League was created in response to the Norfolk league only having three teams and needing to join with Haldimand to create an official league. The Haldimand Football League had five teams at this time, making the combination of the leagues an appropriate response. The McKinnon Park Blue Devils are now the only football team remaining in Haldimand, while Norfolk has five teams. The lack of teams in Haldimand was one of the major deciding factors for the switch, as McKinnon Park Secondary was already able to compete in Hamilton.
