HALDIMAND—Dr. Nesathurai, Medical Officer of Health for Haldimand and Norfolk, thinks “it’s likely that COVID-19 is not going to be completely eradicated.”
“I think it’s possible we will have to vaccinate people on an annual basis like the flu. Like other communicable diseases, there will be increased cases and decreased cases,” continued Nesathurai on his expectations for the virus in the long run. “I think vaccination will provide protection for the community overall, but I think public health measures are likely to be used into the end of summer and perhaps into the fall as well.”
