HALDIMAND—MP Diane Finley’s petition to end loopholes in ‘designated grower status’ cannabis production closed last week with over 1,000 signatures and will soon be presented to parliament.

“This petition arose out of concerns raised by a number of Haldimand Norfolk constituents, and from all across the country, that medical marijuana grow operations were opening at an alarming rate and were operating within a program intended to allow a designated grower to grow cannabis for a small number of prescription holders,” said Finley. “While I would like to have seen more (signatures), those are 1,000 people’s names that will be heard in parliament by the Liberal Government, who have been ignoring the issue for too long.”
