Note: This letter was submitted prior to Erin O’Toole’s removal from his position as the leader of the federal Conservative Party.
To the Editors,
Leslyn Lewis, the Toronto lawyer who is now our Member of Parliament, attended the truckers’ vaccine protest on Parliament Hill where protesters defiled the Terry Fox statue, used the National War Memorial as a toilet, danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and displayed Confederate flags, Nazi flags, and Canadian flags marred by swastikas.
Her leader, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, a military veteran, deserves credit for “unequivocally condemning” these acts.
Leslyn Lewis comment in a video posted on her Facebook page? “All I’ve seen here are loving, law-abiding Canadians expressing their voice.”
She further said her constituents in Haldimand-Norfolk wanted her to attend the protest because they are concerned with “government overreach.”
Leslyn Lewis is herself guilty of overreach if she thinks anyone in Haldimand-Norfolk wants their Member of Parliament, by her words and presence, associated with these disgraceful acts.
