HALDIMAND—Haldimand County recently took part in a Municipal Study that included 110 municipalities across Ontario, representing roughly 85% of the population of the province. Overall, the study revealed that Haldimand County has seen significant growth in recent years and has weathered the financial uncertainty of the past year well, putting them in a good place to handle the accelerated growth estimated to impact the community over the next 10 years.
“We’ve undertaken the study for approximately 20 years now, and the study includes socio-economic indicators, financial indicators, and cost of service and affordability indicators,” said Jim Bruzzese, Partner at BMA Management Consulting Inc. during a presentation to Council last week. “Growth and socio-economic indicators factor heavily into the economic analysis. These indicators are largely external to the County, but extremely important to understanding the financial perspective. They have an impact on service, cost of service, and affordability.”
