NANTICOKE—Clean-up efforts are expected to continue around the wetland along Hickory Creek on the Imperial Oil property in Nanticoke.
The Ministry of Environment (MOE) confirmed an initial spill of about 95 litres on May 31, 2019 as a result of a leaking valve, but Imperial Oil is still investigating the quantity of a second spill discovered on June 2. The second spill was the result of the initial valve leak.
Gary Wheeler of the MOE said that Ministry staff followed up with Imperial Oil on June 19 about the cause and quantity of the spill, but no update was provided to the press as of press time on June 25.
