CALEDONIA—A pair of women entrepreneurs are hosting their first family-based festival at the Riverside Convention Centre on the upcoming holiday Monday, February 17, 2020. The Family Day event is the first of its size in the Haldimand Norfolk area. The entrepreneurs have already seen a great deal of interest and support for the long overdue event as county residents would previously have had to travel to the Hamilton or Brantford areas.
Organizer Elena Balaska is a first-generation Canadian who moved to Ontario from Athens, Greece with her husband, Tyler Ferguson of Ancaster. The couple frequently attended events in Hamilton and surrounding areas with their 7-year-old daughter, Lily, and saw an opportunity to bring these experiences closer to their new hometown of Caledonia.
Organizer Tabitha Curley is an indigenous woman from the Six Nations reserve who grew up locally.
