JARVIS—As part of their ongoing efforts to improve the property at the Jarvis Community Centre, new benches were recently installed in front of the building by the Jarvis Lions. The families of Melissa Howse (nee Burger, 1974-2018) and former Jarvis Lion George Walker (1910-1984) and his wife Beulah (1911-1992) have had plaques installed on the benches in their memory, thanks to donations made by their families and friends.
Melissa was a proud resident and avid supporter of her community. She loved the Jarvis Lions Shows and other community events, the Ball Park, Community Centre, and especially the most recent addition: the Walking Trail. Lion George was a Charter Member of the Jarvis club in 1948, an active business leader, and he and Beulah were widely respected throughout the area.
The support shown by all residents and businesses in the past is greatly appreciated. The Jarvis Lions will continue to help make the Jarvis Community Centre and surrounding facilities an asset to be proud of.
