HAGERSVILLE—Simplicity Air (SA) is launching a new Futures Program in an attempt to increase local student interest in the service trades industry.
The HVAC installation and service provider, which recently opened a new 25,000 sq. ft facility in Hagersville, is gearing the program toward high school graduates, hoping to place them in an assistant role to a variety of positions, including Agricultural Equipment Technician, Automotive Service Technician, Power Lift Truck Technician, Truck and Coach Technician, or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician.
For the inaugural year of the program, SA is only taking on one candidate who will begin their role at the end of this school year, with the program concluding the last week of August. They will work full time and earn a competitive wage for their efforts, in addition to a $1,500 tool bursary.
The candidate will have access to a variety of educational opportunities through their role, including hands-on installation work, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems.

This program is deigned to expose the candidate to an environment where their skills are being developed and used on a regular basis. The opportunity will also help shape the candidate’s future in the trades industry. Through on-site experience, any questions the student may have about their potential career path will be addressed and answered by established professionals already making a living in the field.
SA is planning to expand the program’s availability in future years, hoping to work with multiple candidates each summer, with feedback from this year’s candidate being implemented into future programming.
SA co-owner Brian Bassindale explained why they decided to launch the program, “Air quality is important for our future and special training will be required for the new protocols in the Vehicle Electrification Market.”
He hopes this program will help prepare students for jobs that haven’t been created yet. The SA team has patented and are producing new technology for vehicle idle management to help reduce the carbon footprint. They design, engineer, manufacture the technology in Hagersville, and install their projects across North America.
SA is now in the interview stage of the process, but is encouraging anyone still interested to visit simplicityair.com/futures to learn more about the opportunity.
