JARVIS—This year Jarvis Community Christian School held a non-food food drive to support a local food bank. Each class was tasked to bring in money to donate towards the cause. Last year the school donated to Port Dover Food Bank and this year chose the Hagersville Food Bank to work with.
The class that donated the most funds per student would get to go shopping and deliver the food to the food bank. Homeroom teacher Becky Steeles wasn’t certain how well they would do at this fundraiser because the week before this event they had raised over $700 for a well project in Africa, but her Grade 7/8 students ended up raising the most; all together the school was able to donate $3,700 worth of food.
