Ontario to enter first stage of its reopening plan this Friday

HALDIMAND—As cases continue to drop across the province and vaccination rates continue to rise, the Province has announced that Ontario will move into Step 1 of its economic reopening plan this Friday, June 11, 2021.

Previously, June 14 had been penciled in as the date when Step 1 would take effect, however a statement from the Premier’s office on June 7 indicated that current numbers are much better than recent modelling had indicated. The province has now surpassed over 72% of the adult population receiving first dose vaccinations.

Between May 25 to 31, the case rate in the province dropped 35.1%, with only 525 new cases being reported this past Monday and 469 on Tuesday.
