Charges laid following a collision in Caledonia

CALEDONIA—One individual was arrested following a single vehicle collision.

On August 25, 2024 at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Haldimand OPP received a report of a single vehicle collision on Rainbow Drive, Caledonia.

The investigation determined that a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle left the scene but was located soon after.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent that they had consumed alcohol, and they were taken into custody. As a result, a 37-year-old of Caledonia was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Failure to Stop after Accident

  The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on October 8, 2024.
