Domestic disturbance leads to refusal charge

DUNNVILLE—On June 17, 2022, at 10:44 p.m., Haldimand OPP responded to a disturbance at a residence on Gardiner Avenue East in Dunnville.

When police arrived, they spoke with an individual who had been driving up and down the roadway yelling and screaming. While speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were detected.

The driver was transported to the closest OPP detachment for additional testing.

As a result, the accused, a 35-year-old of Dunnville, is charged with the following offences:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Cannabis Readily Available
  • Trespass to Property

The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
