Impaired charges laid in collision

SIMS LOCK—On July 20, 2024 around 9:50 p.m., Haldimand OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Haldimand Highway 54 near Sims Locks. It was determined that one of the drivers had allegedly consumed alcohol and was subsequently taken into custody.

The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for testing. As a result, a 19-year-old of Milton was charged with: Operation While Impaired; Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand; Mischief Under $5000; Driver Fail to Surrender Licence; Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero.

No injuries were reported. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3.
