Impaired driver taken into custody after fleeing crash scene, meth found

CALEDONIA—Haldimand OPP has charged a 37-year-old driver with impaired driving and multiple other offences following a collision investigation on Highway 6 in Caledonia.

On Friday, August 28, 2020 at 9:51 a.m., OPP were on patrol in the area of Highway 6 south of Fifth Line when they observed a vehicle that had been involved in a collision. As the officer approached to investigate, an individual at the scene fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody. OPP received additional traffic complaint calls on the same vehicle, one of which reported the vehicle had struck a tractor trailer on Highway 6.
