Individual arrested after theft from Caledonia business

CALEDONIA—On August 18, 2024 at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of Haldimand OPP received a report of a theft from a business on Argyle Street, Caledonia.

The investigation determined that an individual entered the store, removed an item, and exited the premise. They returned and entered the store again and removed another item. The individual was located a short distance away and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Assault Peace Officer
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Theft Under $5,000 – (two counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on August 22, 2024.
