PORT MAITLAND—On September 7, 2023 at 8 p.m., Haldimand OPP was contacted regarding an overturned vessel with four occupants in the water near Port Maitland.
Provincial Communications Centre – London (PCC-L) was able to effectively locate and communicate with the parties involved and notified Coast Guard personnel and Haldimand County Emergency Medical Services for their rescue. All four individuals were safely transported to shore for medical assessments and were found to be uninjured.
Thanks to the quick thinking of our PCC-L call takers and dispatchers, and the great working relationship they have formed with other emergency services, this dangerous event did not result in any fatalities.
