OPP Brief: Careless driving charge laid in Dunnville collision

DUNNVILLE—An individual is facing charges following a two-vehicle collision in Dunnville.

On Sunday, June 21, 2026 at approximately 5:30 p.m., members from the Haldimand County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Cross Street East and Cedar Street in Dunnville.

The investigation determined that a pickup truck and a freight van had collided at the intersection.

The operator of the pickup truck was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the van, a 24-year-old from Hamilton, has been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Careless driving causing bodily harm
  • Disobeying a stop sign – failure to stop

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 10, 2026. The charges have not been proven in court.
