OPP Brief: Traffic complaint in Caledonia results in charge

CALEDONIA—An individual is facing an impaired driving charge as a result of an investigation in Caledonia.

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at approximately 3:08 a.m., members from the Haldimand County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to traffic complaint of a vehicle stopped in a live lane on Highway 6 in Caledonia.

Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Officers determined that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired. The driver was arrested and brought to the Hamilton Police Service for further testing.

A 27-year-old of Hamilton, has been charged under the Criminal Code with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 25, 2026.
