OPP Brief: Traffic stop in Hagersville leads to several charges

HAGERSVILLE—On Friday, January 30, 2026 at approximately 8 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on King Street in Hagersville while on general patrol. The investigation determined there was a quantity of suspected illicit drugs within the vehicle.

A 48-year-old of Ohsweken has been charged with: possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts); and driving motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

A 39-year-old of Hagersville has been charged with: possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts); and passenger — failure to properly wear seatbelt.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 17, 2026. The charges have not been proven in court.
