YORK—A driver was arrested following a two-vehicle collision near York.
On March 29, 2026, at approximately 2:05 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Haldimand Highway 56, near York.
The investigation determined that a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a passenger vehicle collided at that intersection.
The driver and passenger of the first vehicle were not injured. The driver and lone occupant of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital.
As a result, a 35-year-old of Welland has been charged with the following offences:
Operation While Impaired
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid
Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
Fail to Yield to Traffic on Through Highway
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 12, 2026.
