OPP plan traffic initiative for Easter weekend

HALDIMAND—Haldimand OPP is gearing up for its Easter weekend seat belt initiative from midnight April 15 to midnight on April 18, 2022. It is an enforcement-driven initiative designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures through high visibility and enforcement.

As part of its campaign, the OPP will also be targeting speeding, impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and other provincial statutes. The goal is to deter high-risk driving behaviour by changing the behaviour through voluntary compliance through educational awareness and using effective proactive enforcement activities.

“Drivers need to be cognizant of their surroundings and stay focused while they drive. It only takes a split second to change your life forever,” said Officer Mary Gagliardi.
