RIDE check in Cayuga results in drug possession charge

CAYUGA—Haldimand OPP has charged a 28-year-old driver with drug possession after illicit drugs were located in a vehicle during a RIDE check on Talbot Street East in Cayuga.

On Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 12:22 a.m., OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Talbot Street East in Cayuga when illicit drugs were located in plain view inside a vehicle.

OPP began to investigate and a search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected fentanyl in the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of the driver.

OPP has charged a 28-year-old male of Cayuga with Possession of a Schedule I substance – Fentanyl.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charge.
