YORK—At approximately 8:46 a.m. on May 19, 2024 Haldimand OPP responded to an address near Highway 54 and Haldimand Road 9 in the village York to investigate a report of shots being fired in the vicinity.
As a result, shortly before 3 p.m., a 56-year-old individual was taken into custody. They were subsequently airlifted to a trauma centre by air ambulance with serious, non-life-threatening injuries due to the detonation of live ammunition in a fire.
There was no indication of a firearm being involved in the incident.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) also assisted with the investigation.
