Single vehicle collision leads to criminal charges

HAGERSVILLE — On October 6, 2024 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Haldimand OPP received a report of a single vehicle collision on Haldimand Road 9 near Hagersville. 

Upon arrival, police spoke with the driver, and it became apparent they had consumed alcohol.

The individual was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old of Selkirk has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

  The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on October 29, 2024.
