Traffic stop leads to charges

HALDIMAND–A 21-year-old Hannon resident is facing charges following a traffic stop in Haldimand County.

On October 8, 2025 at approximately 1:35 a.m., a vehicle driving on Highway 6 caught the attention of members of the Haldimand OPP, and they conducted a traffic stop. The driver was charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Driving a motor vehicle – performing a stunt – excessive speed
  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
  • Disobeying a stop sign – failure to stop (two counts)
  • Driver failure to surrender licence

The charges have not been proven in court. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Cayuga on November 4.
