CALEDONIA—Haldimand OPP responded to a weapons complaint at Thompson Road in Caledonia on March 9, 2022 at 5:45 p.m.
An altercation had occurred between two individuals and at one point one of the individuals pointed a firearm at his opponent. When police arrived two people left the scene and fled on foot, one of them being the suspect with the weapon.
Police located the two individuals and arrested both at the scene. The firearm used to commit the offence proved to be a BB gun.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Caledonia was charged with the following offences:
- Assault with intent to resist arres
- Escape lawful custody
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Pointing a firearm
- Assault with a weapon
- Disarming a peace officer
- Fail to comply with sentence (two counts)
The identity of the individual is being withheld under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
