CAYUGA—The Optimist Club of Haldimand is pleased to announce the recipients of the two $1,500 scholarships for 2022. Samuel Hartwick received the Stubbe’s/Optimists Club of Haldimand Trade Scholarship and Kaitlyn McSwain received the Optimist Club of Haldimand Academic Scholarship.
Samuel is studying to be an electrician at community college. He is optimistic that one day he will be running his own electrical business and has a definite plan to get there. His application for the scholarship exuded optimism.
Kaitlyn will be studying Criminology at university. Kaitlyn’s application and her accompanying letter is probably the best letter submitted from a youth about the importance of optimism in one’s life.
These youth have demonstrated the best in the youth of today. They are optimistic, they have a plan for their future, and they are willing not only to set that plan in motion but to execute it with determination. Well done to these two students.
Next year the scholarships will be going to Hagesrville Secondary School. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of applications. The Guidance Department determines a number of deserving recipients, then the students write the application and submit it.
Optimists, Supporting our Youth today, so they might see the Possibilities of Tomorrow.
