DUNNVILLE—Certified Fund Raising Executive International has named Penny Banks as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). Banks, Executive Director for the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation (DHHF), joins over 7,200 professionals around the world who hold the CFRE designation.
Banks explains, “I chose to go into the field of fundraising many years ago. I made a personal and professional commitment to continue to grow and learn – and working towards my CFRE designation was a testament to that commitment.”
Individuals granted the CFRE credential meet a series of standards, including demonstrated fundraising achievement, tenure in the profession, and education. They have also passed a rigorous written exam testing the knowledge and abilities required, and have agreed to uphold Accountability Standards and the Donor Bill of Rights.
“The CFRE credential was created to identify for the public and employers those individuals who possess the knowledge, skills, and commitment to perform fundraising duties in an effective and ethical manner,” states CFRE International President and CEO Eva E. Aldrich. “As the certification is a voluntary achievement, the CFRE certification demonstrates a high level of commitment on the part of Penny Banks to the fundraising profession and the donors who are served.”
CFRE recipients are awarded certification for a three-year period. To maintain certification, they must demonstrate ongoing fundraising employment and results and continue with their professional education.
Since 1981, CFRE has set standards for fund-
raising professionals. It is the only globally recognized fundraising certification. The CFRE certification program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute and is the only accredited certification for these professionals.
On achieving this designation, Banks says, “Passing this exam (on my first attempt!) and achieving my CFRE designation has been a professional goal of mine for many years. It is an accomplishment that truly does take years to achieve, given the requirements. Not only am I proud of myself, but I am also thrilled that I bring this knowledge to my role as Executive Director at DHHF. In addition, it is my goal to continue along this path and encourage as many young fundraising professionals to make the same commitment.”
As the premier global credential for career fundraisers, the CFRE designation is endorsed and supported by the world’s leading professional and philanthropic associations. CFRE International congratulates Banks for achieving the CFRE designation. For more information please visit cfre.org or call 1-703-820-5555.
Banks concluded, “Thank you to the DHHF Board for supporting my commitment to my CFRE designation and a shout out to Danielle and Rachel for believing in me. Their encouragement means everything!”
