TOWNSEND—A fundraiser was held this weekend at the Townsend Community Centre and Pavillion in support of a new hospice care initiative proposed for the Haldimand Norfolk region.

The fundraiser, organized by local residents Diane Xurieb and Grace Mansfield through the Saint Elizabeth (SE) Foundation, featured a yard sale, penny sale, and a silent auction on August 10, 2019. Approximately $6 million is needed to build the planned 14-16,000 square- foot facility and see it through its first year of operation.

“The goal of the SE Foundation is to support our local hospice initiative and spread hope and happiness throughout our community by utilizing the power of people,” explains Xurieb, an ambassador for the group. “The SE Foundation works to strengthen community health through innovative models, partnerships, and leading practices by providing services to those in need.”
