Protesters return to Battlefield International in Cayuga

CAYUGA—Pro-Palestine demonstrators returned to Battlefield International on September 11, 2026, once again calling for the Cayuga company to end all sales to Israeli defence manufacturer Elbit Systems.

The protest marked the second demonstration targeting Battlefield in less than a month, following an August 13 rally at the site over the company’s shipment of components to Elbit.

The protest’s organizer, Rabbi David Mivasair, said the latest demonstration was part of a broader national campaign calling on all Canadian companies to stop supplying Elbit, which manufactures defence systems used by the Israeli military.

In September 2025, a United Nations Commission report was released that stated that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Organizers of the protest allege that companies supplying components to Israeli defence firms are contributing to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and have called for a broader Canadian arms embargo.

Battlefield President Steve Fenton previously confirmed the company has sold components to Elbit, but said the business complies with Canadian trade laws and that sales to Elbit account for less than 1% of Battlefield’s annual revenue.

Fenton said the components shipped by Battlefield are commercial off-the-shelf fluid connectors and are not controlled under International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Canada’s dual-use export controls.

He defended Israel’s right to respond militarily following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, while saying civilian deaths and injuries caused by war should end as soon as possible.

The protesters, meanwhile, maintain that Canadian companies should sever ties with all Israeli defence manufacturers and said they plan to continue pressuring businesses involved in the sector.
