CALEDONIA—Unknown individuals stole or broke a number of pumpkins put out on display along Caledonia streets as part of the annual Pumpkin Row. Earlier this month a large number of the pumpkins put out on display went missing. Shortly after, residents discovered even more pumpkins had been broken throughout town. Kathy Marshall, Caledonia BIA Coodinator, said,“It is indeed frustrating when the town comes together to create a fun, colourful display, and a sad scallywag vandalizes. We did our best to clean up pumpkin pieces on a daily basis. Regardless, the BIA will continue with seasonal displays. I like to concentrate on the smiles and happiness that seasonal displays bring rather than on the few destructive bad apples (or in this case bad pumpkins). The pumpkins are going to Killman Zoo again this year. For the first time, we invited farmers to contact us if they would like pumpkins for livestock, but we didn’t receive any requests this year. Perhaps word needs to get out – we will make the offer to farmers again next year.” —Haldimand Press photo by Jillian Zynomirski.
