DUNNVILLE—The “village” of Dunnville came together in a huge way during the recent Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign. Being number one the past two years, they set an ambitious goal of 50,000 cookies. The community came through far beyond anyone’s expections.

Staff endlessly baked and teams of volunteers decorated the cookies, all organized by Danielle Ormonde, Events Coordinator for the Dunnville Hospital and Healthcare Foundation (DHHF). Nationally, the campaign raised a record-breaking $10.56 million. The next highest number of cookies sold went to Binbrook with 35,000.

Ryan DiTommaso, Dunnville General Manager/Franchisee, cannot thank his staff enough for their tireless efforts, the DHHF staff, and the community “for supporting us in such a big way. I’m so proud to be part of such a humble, amazing little community with huge hearts. Being number 1 in Canada three years in a row is exciting for sure!”

The total $62,889 raised will go directly to the DHHF to purchase the most up-to-date equipment to enable the best care possible for the community.

Ormonde said, “It is amazing! The community support was astounding but all this hard work goes back to the hospital.”

Visit the Dunnville Farmer’s Market on Saturday, October 3 from 3 to 4 p.m. for a drive-thru-only appreciation event.
