DUNNVILLE—On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Dunnville-based Rock Point Provincial Park posted an advisory on its social media page advising the public that the section of Lake Erie within the park was temporarily closed due to elevated bacterial counts.

The post noted that park staff would monitor conditions closely, posting three days later on July 13 that the beach was once again safe and open for swimming.
Access to the park will be free on Friday, July 19 for the Healthy People, Healthy Parks initiative. That free admission extends to all provincial parks in the province, which also includes Selkirk Provincial Park in Haldimand.
Rock Point has a number of fun activities planned between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. pm July 19, including Yoga for Beginners, a Discovery Hike, Fur Bearer Challenge, Nature Detectives, and a Craft/Nature Journal challenge.
