SELKIRK—The Social opened in May of this year as a café and artisan market in Selkirk, but owners Ken and Sue Hoover have already grown the offerings and now employ over 10 residents. “We moved out here from Burlington. We had a doggy daycare and kennel for many years and wanted to start a completely different business that the community needed,” said the couple. While Burlington to Selkirk may seem like a big move, it was a move back home for Ken, which has allowed the family to get involved across three generations. “We love the area and the smalltown feel,” they added. The Selkirk Social is grateful for the support they’ve seen so far from their family, friends, and the community at large.
