CALEDONIA—The Caledonia Chamber of Commerce held its Spring Breakfast on April 5, 2019 at Wiggies Pizza Wings & More. Following a buffet breakfast, the early morning gathering heard from Henry Schilthuis of Schilthuis Construction Inc. on three major construction projects that the multi-faceted business currently has underway in Caledonia: MontHill Golf and Country Club, Riverside Exhibition Centre (at the Fairgrounds), and the Old Mill.
Work is progressing well at MontHill Golf and Country Club; the cart area and pro shop will be open for golf season. Work will continue on a banquet facility and sports-style bar that will be open year-round. Schilthuis noted that the materials used are “top notch”, describing the building as “a state-of-the-art, beautiful facility; a showcase for Haldimand.”
Schilthuis spoke similarly of the Riverside Exhibition Centre, a project they have been involved with for three to four years. He acknowledges, “It’s an old building we’re repairing … it’s going to be a beautiful facility.” The new hall will include a stage area and exhibition floor space, kitchen, and meeting rooms. He commends the Agricultural Society and Ron Clark (posthumously) for “the vision to create a multi-purpose facility.”
