HALDIMAND—The Shoebox Project of Haldimand Norfolk and Brant successfully raised over $18,000 in donations to provide over 700 women in the region with gift cards this Christmas.
This is the sixth holiday drive for the local group, which held its first drive in 2015. Previously, community members were invited to put together shoebox-sized gift boxes with a variety of items for women in shelters with an estimated value of $50. In light of COVID-19, the Shoebox Project had to suspend their giftbox collection; however, recognizing that more women than ever would need support, the project continued in an altered format through gift cards.
