DUNNVILLE—There was a definite air of excitement and the coming together of community on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the official ribbon cutting for the new emergency department at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital (HWMH).
HWMH President and CEO, David Montgomerey said, “This is a very exciting day … You are living proof that it takes a community to raise a new emergency department and this has been five years, this month, in the planning. And after a very significant amount of work it’s here and it’s a beautiful thing … Right now, you are standing in the largest acute healthcare expansion in Haldimand County in 50 years, which is pretty amazing.”
Haldimand County Mayor, Ken Hewitt, said, “It’s truly amazing to be a part of this whole process to see it from the start to where we are today … what the hospital did was take the $700,000, allotted by the County, and leveraged it into a bigger opportunity and we are standing in the middle of that.”
