DUNNVILLE—Two youth representing the Dunnville Optimist Club, Paige and Luke Munnings, went to Ancaster on March 26, 2022 for the Optimist Zone 2 Oratorical Contest. This year’s theme was “Staying Optimistic in Challenging Times”. Paige, who placed first, spoke of trying out for hockey and wanting to give up when times were challenging, but she continued to show up, work hard, and ask questions. As a result, she improved and was proud of her accomplishments. She also noted that during challenging times it’s important to do things for the body, like exercise, because it helps to boost the mood. Paige and Dineli, a representative from Hamilton Optimists, advance to the Central Ontario District-level contest on May 9 to compete for scholarships of up to $2,500.
