JARVIS—From April 15 to May 1, 2025 students at Jarvis Community Christian School (JCCS) participated in this year’s Non-Food Food Drive in support of the Jarvis Caring Cupboard. The school raised $7,223.37, all of which will help local families in need.
The initiative, which invites students to raise funds rather than collect canned goods, empowers them to be active participants in addressing hunger in their own community. The funds raised are then used to purchase specific, high-demand items from No Frills in Hagersville, thanks to a special partnership between the school and the grocery store.
Leading the charge this year was the Grade 7 class, who raised $99.50 per student, totalling $2,089.50. Their class earned the honour of going on a special shopping trip to directly purchase food items for the Jarvis Caring Cupboard.
“We’re incredibly proud of all our students,” said JCCS Principal Chad Haverkamp. “They’ve shown what it means to be compassionate, hard-working, and community-minded. This drive isn’t just about raising money – it’s about living out our faith and making a real impact.”
While this year’s total came in slightly below the previous record of $9,209, the heart and energy poured into the campaign were as strong as ever. The drive also ignited a sense of friendly competition among classes, adding fun and motivation to the meaningful cause.
The Non-Food Food Drive is just one way the school seeks to be a faithful partner in the community, sharing the love of Jesus through action. As the final total is celebrated, staff and students alike are reflecting on how God is working in and through their efforts.
