Sudden rains flood some Haldimand roads

CAYUGA—A quick, heavy rainfall on Friday, August 5, 2022 created flooding in certain areas of Haldimand County. At top, Link Road in Kohler was completely covered over, alongside some of the neighbouring property (above). These photos were taken before noon on Friday. Photographer Zak Horkoff contacted Haldimand County and said, “They were very quick to send a crew out to put up barriers to warn drivers of the flooding over the road.” Haldimand County explained that in these situations, the Roads Operations Division responds to temporary flooding conditions by placing “Water Over Road” signs when conditions are present. “Typically the conditions are short lived and when the water recedes, the signs are removed,” explained Kyra Hayes, Supervisor – Customer Experience & Communications for Haldimand County. “After the flooding conditions improve, the roadway is inspected and any damages are repaired accordingly.”
