Thank you & Happy Thanksgiving

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, The Haldimand Press has a number of people to thank today.

First and foremost, thank you to you, whoever you are reading this right now. You’re the reason we do what we do, because you care to stay informed on the important issues and to keep up to date on community happenings.

Secondly, and just as importantly, thank you to our advertisers. As much as we love to provide local news, event coverage, and so on – it’s an expensive business. From staff, printing, and mailing costs, to the everyday utilities we all need, the paper is only financially feasible thanks to the generous support of our advertisers.

Speaking of our staff, thank you to each one of you. Whether it’s reporting, design, bookkeeping, ad sales, or reception, we value all of our employees for their hard work. It wouldn’t be possible to put out our product with the level of quality it has without a strong foundation within the company.

An extra thank you to any of our readers who call, email, or visit with news from around the county to share in our paper. We rely on all of you to act as extra eyes and ears in the community so we can get the best coverage possible. And to the likely thousands of volunteers and community leaders who put on the events or make advancements within the community that we cover, thank you on behalf of everyone in Haldimand for your dedication to improving our county.

Finally, thank you to everyone who attended our first-ever all candidates debate last week. While we have attended an immeasurable number of events in Haldimand, we’ve never hosted something of this magnitude ourselves. We had no idea how many people might show up and figured it would be amazing if we got 50 people out. We put out about 80 chairs to start and were then left scrambling to add as many more as we could before the event started as over 100 people came out. It was awesome to see people so invested in our upcoming election and definitely made the work that went into putting it on worthwhile. A reminder that there is a second debate this Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Kohler Agricultural Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the Q&A will kick off at 7 p.m.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
